Empower Up
National Autistic Society Scotland’s new Empower Up programme is available to autistic young people between the ages of 12 and 15 years in Highland.
Empower Up will take place online over the course of 6 weeks and aims to support autistic young people to develop greater confidence, self-esteem, and social skills, so that they can play a more active role in realising their potential. There are online peer social groups which will support autistic young people to become more connected to their peers and wider community, which may help to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing. A diagnosis is not required.
If your young person might be interested then p[ease email the team who will be delighted to tell you more. This is an ongoing programme but there will be a waiting list before the next intake. It is worth the wait!

Autism Post-Diagnostic Support
Across Scotland post-diagnostic support for autistic children and young people is provided through Scottish Autism’s Get Set 4 Autism programme.
What is Get Set 4 Autism?
Scottish Autism's Get Set 4 Autism project provides post-diagnostic support to parents and carers of autistic children and young people up to the age of 18 years. The project aims to promote a greater understanding of autism, improve communication between parents and professionals, and ultimately equip parents with the information and practical skills they need to support their child.
As a parent/carer, what does the support involve?
The support is provided over 4-6 sessions with an advisor. The sessions can either be delivered by phone or via MS Teams / Zoom.
In the first session an advisor will give you time to share your journey so far, and will take the time to understand your family circumstances. From this, the advisor will then help you to identify up to 5 areas of support. This is to ensure through the project the advisor is providing personalised support to your family circumstances and where you feel you require the most support.
As a parent/carer, how can you access the project?
Following a diagnosis, this can for some seem like quite a daunting time, however no matter where you are in your journey Scottish Autism is here to help.
Whether it be to access Get Set 4 Autism, or whether you are looking for autism specific advice, support, guidance or signposting then please contact Scottish Autism's Advice Line.
